Technician Permissions

Postby vince.bizztech » Wed Mar 07, 2012 5:49 am

I have a technician for whome I have created a USER account in LT
There are three tabs in the user profile, General, Permissions, Groups and Clients

I understand teh basics of this, and how to test the permissions by clicking the 'view permissions' button at the bottom, but what is difficult is to know what permission enables what function on the LT console.

Specificaly in this case, I want teh Tech to see teh DOCUMENTS TAB and teh PASSWORDS tab for the client.

I can not see hiow to do this.

I have read the doc on teh web, but that just describes teh basis of the groups, Super Admin, System Cionfig etc...

Hey,

If you want the user to have access to the password and documents tab on a client it has to be set at the group level. I tested it out by adding the user to the "all clients.sample client" group. Under the permissions tab of a group you can give "read, edit, and delete" permissions for both passwords and documents.

Please let me know if you have anymore questions.

Thanks

Lindsay,
According to what I have tested and see, a user doesn't have the rights to view passwords unless they have Super Admin rights. Someone in support said the same thing to me via ticket.

Hello,
I would just like to get confirmation on the question above please. Technicians cannot view the client passwords (by clicking on the ellipsis '...') unless they are Super Admins?

If this is the case we cannot set up tiered technician permission levels, as all technicians need this.

If you are running on 51.159 version then a user with "System Config" permission will be able to see the password under the client's password tab.
Other user without having "System Config" permission and having access to password tab would be able to create an entry for the new password but would not be able to view the password.

Please let me know for any other questions on this.

You can configure the client's permissions tab and have the user class added there which is assigned to the user and check all the boxes which are required. which will let him see the password and the documents tab.

But to see the actual password entry they would need to have the "System Configuration" permission check in their user management screen.

Thanks

Thanks for the quick reply.

The system config permissions basically unlock everything though, right ?
Seems dumb to give the keys to the castle when only the bathroom is locked...
