LabTech with Office 365 (round 2)

Postby mkeigher.choicesolutions » Fri May 09, 2014 5:26 pm

Hey all,

I stumbled across some documentation for another application that has issues sending via Office365 as the MIME can sometimes be incorrect (By default, Office365 pop mime retrieval format is set to “BestBodyType”). Here are the steps that i found and followed and they seem to be working for me now...

1. Connect to 0365 with Powershell

$UserCredential = Get-Credential

    - In the Windows PowerShell Credential Request dialog box, type your Exchange Online ADMIN user name and password, and then click OK.
$Session = New-PSSession -ConfigurationName Microsoft.Exchange -ConnectionUri https://outlook.office365.com/powershell-liveid/ -Credential $UserCredential -Authentication Basic -AllowRedirection

Import-PSSession $Session

2. List the current mailboxes:

get-casmailbox support@yourITcompany.com | fl *pop*

Here is the result of the above command

    ExternalPopSettings :
    InternalPopSettings :
    PopEnabled : True
    PopUseProtocolDefaults : True
    PopMessagesRetrievalMimeFormat : BestBodyFormat
    PopEnableExactRFC822Size : False
    PopSuppressReadReceipt : False
    PopForceICalForCalendarRetrievalOption : False
3. Change the MIME type:

set-casmailbox support@yourITcompany.com -PopMessagesRetrievalMimeFormat 0

4. Now run the command to list the settings to confirm everything worked:

get-casmailbox support | fl *pop*

    ExternalPopSettings :
    InternalPopSettings :
    PopEnabled : True
    PopUseProtocolDefaults : True
    PopMessagesRetrievalMimeFormat : TextOnly
    PopEnableExactRFC822Size : False
    PopSuppressReadReceipt : False
    PopForceICalForCalendarRetrievalOption : False
Notice that the PopMessageRetrievalMimeFormat has changed to TextOnly.

FYI: Here are the other types of MIME types available, so feel free to experiment and see which one suits you best.

Type: Description
0: TextOnly
1: HtmlOnly
2: HtmlAndTextAlternative
3: TextEnrichedOnly
4: TextEnrichedAndTextAlternative
5: BestBodyFormat
6: Tnef

LabTech with Office 365 (round 2)

Postby mkeigher.choicesolutions » Fri May 09, 2014 5:41 pm

In addition...

If someone at LabTech can test and validate this...then get it out on your DOCS site!! I imagine plenty of people will want this.

Thanks.

Hi MKeigher,

Thanks for the post. I'll have one of our LabTech SME's take a look at this and post it in KB's or send it to docs as soon as I get their thumbs up.

Thank you!

Hi Martyn,

I've heard back from Robert our email SME. Since this post is regarding changing settings outside of LabTech we can't host it on our KB or docs site. Robert tried to find this information on Microsoft's site (we can link to other official companies official support docs) but wasn't having any luck.

This will have to live here for now. Support does often send partners to the forums for "out of scope" solutions. Robert did find this very useful, I'm sure that he'll point people in this direction.

Thank you so much for the assistance and all the other helpful information you post!

Cheers,
Melissa

That's completely understandable and no problems at all!

Just wanted to post it as I know it will be useful to the O365 users out there!

Have a great day! :)

First, Thank you mkeigher.choicesolutions as this got us heading in the right direction!

For us we had to set the PopUseProtocolDefaults to false and the PopMessagesRetrievalMimeFormat to TextOnly in order to get it working.
Here is the additional command I ran:

Code: Select all
Set-CASMailbox tickets@domainname.com -PopUseProtocolDefaults $false

Here is my output for the mailbox now.

ExternalPopSettings :
InternalPopSettings :
PopEnabled : True
PopUseProtocolDefaults :False
PopMessagesRetrievalMimeFormat : TextOnly
PopEnableExactRFC822Size : False
PopSuppressReadReceipt : False
PopForceICalForCalendarRetrievalOption : False

Here is the TechNet site with what the parameters do.
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb125264(v=exchg.150).aspx

Hope this helps anyone having this issue. :D

Thanks for the update (round 2) on this. I was able to get it working after changing the PopUseProtocolDefaults to "false"

This is huge for me. Thanks so much.
