Inventory Resend Hotfix - Failed

Hello,

I found another post on this subject but it's an old post (2012) and that resolution didn't work. I have come across several machines within an organization that "resend hotfix" is failing. Output: ERR Hotfix Scan was unable to get the list of hotfixes. Try Resetting Windows Update to defaults, Installing the Latest Windows Update Agent, check the time and date settings. Current Time is: 6/23/2016 8:00:38 AM

I've followed the recommended -install the windows update agent, -set windows update defaults; however this does not work. Machines will take upto and in excess of 90 minutes to execute the hotfix inventory update.

Assistance would be greatly appreciated. TIA.

Sounds like the longstanding issue with Windows Vista and 7 taking forever to check for patches.

for 7/2008R2 install https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3161608 (https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3020369 is a prereq.).

PS I would have loved 90 minutes. I have seen old PCs take over 26 hours.

Thanks for the update Steve, I'll check for those patches but the systems are fully updated, at least the 3 I tried to update (inventory hotfix) yesterday.

We started seeing this issue on W10 OS as well. Any ideas how to resolve it?

We have not run into long check times on Windows 10. MS has a "Windows Update Troubleshooter" for Windows 10...and 7, though the link on that page points to the Win10 version and thus doesn't run...it does exist for 7 if you hunt for it. Here, found it:
